World Rare Disease Day

CATEGORY: News

The Associação Atlântica de Apoio aos Doentes de Machado-Joseph (AAADMJ), in partnership with the University of the Azores, marked Rare Disease Day 2026 on February 28 with the event “Rare in Action: Caring Means Taking Action,” held at the Carlos Silveira Municipal Pavilion in Ponta Delgada.

This initiative brought together various organizations, professionals, students, and the general public in an atmosphere marked by sharing, raising awareness, and emphasizing the importance of collaborative action in the field of rare diseases.

Throughout the day, various awareness-raising activities, screenings, and opportunities for interaction with the public were organized, highlighting the vital role of information, knowledge, and early intervention in promoting health and well-being.

AAADMJ would like to express its deep gratitude to all partner organizations, professionals, students, and volunteers who contributed to making this initiative a reality, as well as to everyone who attended and actively participated in the event. Everyone’s support and involvement were essential to the event’s success.

“Raro in Action: Caring Is Taking Action” demonstrated, once again, that caring means being present, taking action, and working together to build a more informed, inclusive, and supportive community.
